Conditions Detected Through Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a first-line diagnostic tool used by NHS and private doctors to investigate symptoms across the body. At IUS London, our sonographers use diagnostic ultrasound to detect, monitor and assess a wide range of health conditions — from pregnancy complications and gynaecological disorders to vascular disease, abdominal pathology and musculoskeletal injuries.

Men's Health Conditions

Testicular ultrasound investigates testicular pain, scrotal swelling, palpable lumps, varicocele, epididymal cysts, hydrocele, testicular torsion and suspected testicular cancer. The scan assesses the testes, epididymis, spermatic cord and scrotal tissue.

Prostate and bladder ultrasound evaluates urinary symptoms including poor flow, urinary frequency, incomplete emptying and raised PSA. The scan measures prostate volume, post-void residual volume, bladder wall thickness and detects bladder stones, bladder polyps and prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia).

Hernia ultrasound identifies inguinal hernias, femoral hernias and incisional hernias, and can differentiate hernias from lymph nodes, lipomas and other groin masses.
